21-Day Fasting Guide

Alternate Option: 7 Day Cycle

Repeat this 7-day cycle three times across 21 days.

Fasting is when we choose to take a break from something we enjoy for a set amount of time so we can focus more on God. In the Bible, fasting often meant giving up food, but we can also fast from things like sweets, social media, video games, or TV—anything we can pause to spend more time praying and drawing closer to Him. Fasting helps us depend on God during challenging times and reminds us that He is our strength.

Important Safety Note

Children should not fast from food unless a parent is guiding them and it is safe.

Also, no one should fast from:

  • food

  • medicine

  • or anything prescribed by a doctor

without talking to a doctor first.

Some people may not be able to fast from food, and that’s okay. Everyone can still fast by giving up something else and using that time to get closer to God.
