In preparation for our return, we want to take this opportunity to address some questions and concerns you may have regarding procedures for returning to in-person worship and ministry activities.
We are so excited to welcome you back to our campuses for in-person worship services! Please know that your health and safety are our top priority and our staff is working diligently to provide an environment where you’ll feel safe while worshipping.
We are praying for those who may be affected by the virus and for God’s protection over us all. Please partner with us in this prayer as well as in taking practical measures to mitigate the spread of the virus.
All First Baptist Church of Glenarden offices are currently open. FBCG will resume in-person worship services and ministry activities on Dec. 12, 2021.
This page will be updated regularly with additional information.
Q. When will in-person worship services resume?
A. Join us on Sunday, Dec. 12, as we head back into the Worship Center. Our morning services take place at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Q. What are the new times for worship services?
A. Our new Sunday service times are 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. eastern time with an online re-broadcast at 6:30 p.m. eastern time. For our online viewers, an online pre-show begins 15 minutes before each service and a post-show begins immediately after each service. In-person 6:30 p.m. services will only be held on the 4th Sunday for Communion or for other special events. All services will continue to be streamed online.
Q. What safety protocols have been established to keep us safe?
A. When we return, our mask mandates will align with county regulations — currently, masks are required for all indoor activities for those over the age of two, regardless of vaccination status. We will have masks available at each entrance and hand sanitizing stations will be located throughout all of the buildings. Socially distant seating will not be implemented, and temperature checks will be conducted at all entrances. We will not hug when we greet our neighbors or hold hands; instead, we will encourage other safe methods to use such as elbow bumps and waves.
If you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to the virus, please consider worshipping with us online until you are well.
We have treated our sanctuaries, bathrooms, classrooms and other key areas with a protective coating that shields surfaces against viruses and pathogens to help keep you safe. We have also increased the fresh air flow and upgraded our filters to hospital-grade air filters to improve the indoor air quality by blocking airborne pathogens. Our team treats spaces using electrostatic sprayers for sanitizing and disinfecting after each use.
Q. What are the vaccination requirements for volunteers?
A. All volunteers who have direct interaction with our members and visitors and/or who serve on Sundays must be fully vaccinated. All volunteers must show evidence of their vaccination by completing the Verified to Serve process. Full instructions have been sent to ministry leaders by the Department Heads. Badges will only be issued or reactivated for volunteers whose vaccination status has been verified.
Q. How will Communion be conducted?
A. In-person Communion will resume on Sunday, Dec. 26 at the Worship Center. Members will still have the option to participate virtually. Those who attend in person will pick up their elements upon entry into the sanctuary and dispose of them upon exit. Communion trays will not be passed.
Q. How will tithes & offerings be collected?
A. The collection of tithes and offerings will be touchless. Drop boxes will be placed near the entrances for you to drop off your offerings as you enter or exit the tent services or sanctuary. We also encourage you to utilize online giving options by visiting www.fbcglenarden.org/giving. There will be no passing of the plates, and checks can still be dropped off or mailed to the Ministry Center.
Q. How can I purchase items from the Media Center?
A. In-store operations will begin on Dec. 12. Curbside service is now available and will remain an option. Orders can be completed online or by phone and picked up at the Ministry Center. Also, don’t forget that our online Media Center is open 24/7 at www.fbcgbookstore.org.
Q. How do I join or contact a specific ministry?
A. If you need information about your ministry’s meetings, please email your ministry leader. If you are looking to join a ministry, please search our Ministry Finder to locate one of interest, and then join the ministry’s email list.
Q. How do I report the death of a family member?
A. Please email funerals@fbcglenarden.org or call 301-773-3600 and follow the prompts to report the death of an immediate family member.
If you have any additional questions, there are two ways to contact us:
