Welcome Home!

There’s no place like home for the holidays. As an FBCG family, we look forward to the comforts of our church home during this season: poinsettias lining the pulpit, Christmas melodies from our praise teams and live animals in the Great Halls. In 2020, we missed experiencing it live – but this year we’re back!

We have a number of events planned to welcome you home just in time for the holidays!

In-Person Worship Services

All in-person events will be held at the FBCG Worship Center located at 600 Watkins Park Drive, Upper Marlboro, MD 20774.

During this Sunday’s worship services, we will pause to remember the loved ones that we have lost during this time. We also invite you to create memories with family and friends at our holiday photo station.  We will also kick off the Holiday Toy Drive.

There will also be live broadcasts of the services at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. EST, with a re-broadcast at 6:30 p.m. EST.

There will also be live broadcasts of all of the services.

Get in the Christmas spirit by giving! We are accepting new toy donations for children ages 2 to 12 and gift cards for teenagers. Toys should be unwrapped but placed in gift bags.

Worship Center – Sundays during worship services

Ministry Center – Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Special Holiday Pre-Show

We know that everyone can’t make it to the Worship Center for in-person services – some of you are halfway around the world!

We will continue our live broadcast of the 9 a.m. EST and 11:30 a.m. EST services, but with a holiday twist. The pre-shows on Dec. 12, 19 and 26 will feature First Lady’s favorite things, which online worshipers will have a chance to win. Remember, the pre-show begins 15 minutes prior to the service!

Safety Protocols

We’re excited to welcome you back to our church home just in time for the holidays! Please know that your health and safety are our top priority, and our staff is working diligently to provide an environment where you’ll feel safe while worshipping.

We are praying for those who may be affected by the virus and for God’s protection over us all. Please partner with us in this prayer as well as in taking practical measures to mitigate the spread of the virus.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What safety protocols have been established to keep us safe?
A. When we return, our mask mandates will align with county regulations — currently, masks are required for all indoor activities for those over the age of two, regardless of vaccination status. We will have masks available at each entrance and hand sanitizing stations will be located throughout all of the buildings. Socially distant seating will not be implemented, and temperature checks will be conducted at all entrances. We will not hug when we greet our neighbors or hold hands; instead, we will encourage other safe methods to use such as elbow bumps and waves.

If you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to the virus, please consider worshipping with us online until you are well.

We have treated our sanctuaries, bathrooms, classrooms and other key areas with a protective coating that shields surfaces against viruses and pathogens to help keep you safe. We have also increased the fresh air flow and upgraded our filters to hospital-grade air filters to improve the indoor air quality by blocking airborne pathogens. Our team treats spaces using electrostatic sprayers for sanitizing and disinfecting after each use.

Q. What are the vaccination requirements for volunteers?
A. All volunteers who have direct interaction with our members and visitors and/or who serve on Sundays must be fully vaccinated. All volunteers must show evidence of their vaccination by completing the Verified to Serve process. Full instructions have been sent to ministry leaders by the Department Heads. Badges will only be issued or reactivated for volunteers whose vaccination status has been verified.

Q. How will Communion be conducted?
A. In-person Communion will resume on Sunday, Dec. 26 at the Worship Center. Members will still have the option to participate virtually. Those who attend in person will pick up their elements upon entry into the sanctuary and dispose of them upon exit. Communion trays will not be passed.

Q. How will tithes & offerings be collected?
A. The collection of tithes and offerings will be touchless. Drop boxes will be placed near the entrances for you to drop off your offerings as you enter or exit the tent services or sanctuary. We also encourage you to utilize online giving options by visiting www.fbcglenarden.org/give. There will be no passing of the plates, and checks can still be dropped off or mailed to the Ministry Center.

Q. How can I purchase items from the Media Center?
A. In-store operations will begin on Dec. 12. Curbside service is now available and will remain an option. Orders can be completed online or by phone and picked up at the Ministry Center. Also, don’t forget that our online Media Center is open 24/7 at www.fbcgbookstore.org.
