"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen Matthew 28:19-20

Do you feel a tug on your heart to share the good news of Jesus?

Each of us has an important, God-given role to play. The Lord instructed us to take His message of love and forgiveness to every person in every community, in every city, in every country of the world. Will you help? Here are a few ways that you might get involved and respond to the command found in the "Great Commission" that Jesus outlined for us in Matthew 28: 19-20:

Global Missions

FBCG has been sending teams of missionaries to other countries since 1992. Over the years, God has led us to Brazil, South America; Cuba; Columbia, South America; Guyana, South America; Ghana, West Africa; India; the Philippines; South Africa; Ukraine; and  Vietnam.

Currently, we are focusing our global missions’ efforts on the country of Peru. Over the next 10 years, we will share the gospel and send teams of doctors, teachers, construction workers and other volunteers to serve God’s people in that Latin America country for weeks at a time.

MEETING DATE/TIME: 2nd Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m.

Answer The Call!

  1. Go. Become a part of the Global Missions Ministry. Go on a short-term missionary trip and share the love of Jesus Christ.
  2. Pray. If you can't go with a team, please pray for those who will embark on the journey. Pray for hearts to be open and receptive to receive salvation.
  3. Donate. You can give monetary donations to those who are serving on a short-term missionary trip and/or for those who are serving as full-time missionaries through https://e-giving.org/egivinglogin.asp. We currently have three full-time missionaries serving in Ukraine and Burkina Faso, West Africa.

Meeting Temporal Needs Around the Globe

God has richly blessed our church fellowship and we have looked for ways to be a blessing to others throughout the world.

In 2010 First Baptist Church of Glenarden gave $500,000 each to World Vision and Compassion International to address world hunger. Through our Compassion International partnership, more than 14,600 children and their families received food supplies, and 922 malnourished children received lifesaving medical care in drought-striken Kenya. FBCG members also donated $150,000 to the Haiti crisis and the church added an additional $100,000 to that effort. Recently in 2012, we also gave an additional $200,000 to Compassion International to continue its fight against world hunger.

In addition, FBCG partnered with MegaCare Mission and built a water well for the Melchizedek Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya.

In the past, water was trucked in daily so that medical personnel could perform surgeries. This was a costly process. Now thanks to the well, water flows in abundance! Praise our God!

FBCG also tithes 10 percent of its annual budget to support general missions’ efforts.

Domestic Missions

We send teams to some of the most distressed areas in the United States. Currently, we are serving in New Orleans, La., McDowell, W.Va., and southeast Washington, D.C. Our goal is to win souls for the kingdom and share God’s love by meeting the spiritual and temporal needs of those we come in contact with.

MEETING DATE/TIME: 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.

Local Missions

FBCG has several ministries that reach outside of the church walls to preach the gospel and share the love of Christ in our surrounding community. You can get involved with:

The Dorcas Ministry fulfills the needs of those who are bed-stricken, homeless or suffering from a long-term illness. If you have a passion to help others in need, the Dorcas Ministry welcomes you.

MEETING DATE/TIME: 2nd Saturday at 5 p.m.

Jesus said “when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed.” Our Feed the Hungry Ministry provides nutritious meals and prayer to those who are homeless or simply without food.

MEETING DATE/TIME: Saturday at 1:15 p.m.

The HOPE Ministry assists individuals in attaining a more meaningful and Christ-centered life by addressing daily needs. For example, they serve breakfast to the homeless and adopt families to help out during a season of lack. Ministry members also collect donations to bless those in need locally and internationally.

MEETING DATE/TIME: every 3rd Saturday at 1 p.m.

How many of us take seriously Jesus' command to visit those in prison (Matthew 25:36)? The Prison Ministry goes behind bars to minister to “the least of these” - exposing men, women and youth to God’s Word through preaching, witnessing and written correspondence.

MEETING DATE/TIME: Every 3 months, 2nd Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The SHARE Ministry is comprised of people who are working to end hunger by coming together to provide nutritious meals for individuals in the community.

MEETING DATE/TIME: 4th Saturday at 7 a.m.

For those who are experiencing a rough season in their lives, the Willing Workers Ministry helps to heal emotional wounds by sharing testimonies and personal experiences. They spearhead several outreaches to minister to people who are dealing with homelessness, pregnancy crises, drug abuse/addiction and more.

MEETING DATE/TIME: 2nd Saturday at noon
