The First Baptist Church of Glenarden’s Expungement Clinic returns virtually for 2021. The clinic is free of charge and available to anyone who is interested in learning how to have a criminal offense removed from their record. Seasoned legal experts representing Maryland and Washington, DC will address the types of offenses that are eligible for expungement in each jurisdiction. Those with offenses in Maryland will also have the opportunity to register for a one-on-one virtual appointment with a lawyer who can help them begin the actual expungement paperwork process.

Speakers

Dawn L. Williams | FBCG Legal Ministry

Dawn Williams is an experienced trial attorney with a demonstrated history of public interest in advocacy. With a deep passion for community enrichment, she has bridged her professional career with partnering with memberships of various grassroots organizations to include Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Washington Council of Lawyers, Black Women for Positive Change and the NAACP. Through these memberships, Dawn has served her communities in partnership and leadership to empower and advocate on behalf of those in need and support.

Marguerite Lanaux | Maryland

Marguerite Lanaux is an experienced assistant public defender with a demonstrated history of working in the legal services industry. She joined the Maryland Office of the Public Defender in 2013. She worked as a line attorney in Baltimore City until 2018 before joining the Prince George’s County Office where she is currently a supervising attorney. She received her B.A. in Human Communications from Howard University and her law degree from Howard University School of Law. Marguerite is passionate about exposing police misconduct, violence and takes part in a statewide effort through her office to force greater transparency in policing.

Nicole A. Williams | Washington, DC

Nicole Williams is a delegate in the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 22 in Prince George’s County. She currently serves on the Judiciary Committee in the House of Delegates and is an executive board member of the Maryland General Assembly Women’s Caucus. Nicole is also an attorney at the law firm of Rees Broome, P.C. where she represents condominium associations and homeowner associations in Maryland, DC and Virginia. Nicole has committed her life to service in the community and has been recognized as a “Top 40 under 40” leader in Prince George’s County. She received her Bachelor of Arts in History and Communications from the University of Pittsburgh and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Learn about the eligibility requirements and qualifications for having a criminal record expunged in Washington, DC.

One-on-One Appointments (Maryland Offenses ONLY):

One-on-one appointments begin at 9:45 a.m. EDT on the day of the clinic. A few days prior to the event those with Maryland offenses, who registered to meet virtually with an attorney, will receive an email notifying them of their appointment time. Unfortunately, appointments are not available for Washington, DC offenses.
